FAQs

Why are your advanced rates for your petting farms different on certain days?

The rates are cheaper at the beginning of the month for the simple reason that most visitors prefer to come closer to Halloween.  Also, the graduated rates allow visitors to come earlier in the month who might not have been able to otherwise.

The brochure references advanced rates but can we get a group rate?

The majority of our business is with school groups so basically the advanced rates are for groups.  There must be at least 10 people to qualify as a group.  Otherwise admissions are $12 per person.

When is payment due?

Assuming you desire the advanced rate, we would like to receive payment two weeks prior to your scheduled trip to allow time to send your admission stickers.  But as long as payment is received in our administrative office (in Monrovia, Maryland) three business days (Monday through Friday) prior to your trip, we still give you the advanced rate.  Basically we do all we can to help you get the advanced rate.  Please be sure and keep in touch and we will do the same!

What if we have paid for the field trip and some of the students/parents can’t make it, do we get our money back?

We have a “No Refund” policy.  If it is a concern that people may not show up, we suggest that you pay for less admissions in advance and have any stragglers pay the general admission fee on the day of the trip.   When you make a reservation, we provide you with a sample letter to send home to the parents that explains our “No Refund” policy.  We recommend that this letter be used so that everyone understands this policy prior to their payment for the trip.

How many chaperones do we need?

We leave this decision totally up to you.  We believe that you know the needs of your children better than we do.  Please be assured that we offer a very safe environment for your children.

Do we provide a tour guide?

Generally, the answer is no.  During the week, we have many staff members to assist you at the animal pens.  We also have an on-going, educational and entertaining animal show featuring many of our barnyard friends.  However, if your arrival is early afternoon or on the weekend, a tour guide may be provided.

Are there picnic tables or a designated lunch area?

Since we travel to different locations, we are unable to guarantee picnic tables for lunch.  However, we have lots of grassy areas and suggest bringing blankets/mats to sit on for a “frontier-style” lunch.  There are also bleachers at the event.

Are we allowed to bring lunch?

Certainly and we think it is an excellent idea.  Encourage your students to brown bag their lunches, coolers are no problem and we suggest blankets to sit on.

Do you sell food?

There is a small concession stand that sells hot dogs, soda, water, chips, candy and, at some locations, our homemade pulled pork bbq , but, again, we recommend brown bag lunches.

What if it rains on our scheduled date?

Green Meadows makes a decision regarding whether or not the event will proceed at 7:30 a.m. on the day of the trip.  In the event we are forced to cancel due to inclement weather on your scheduled day, you can either reschedule to your rain date (typically this date follows the last scheduled date of the event) or for another day the event is scheduled pending availability.

What if we can’t get buses for another date?

Don’t panic - we understand what a challenge this can be sometimes.   In the event you are unable to reschedule, we will refund your money.  The only requirement is that any admission stickers in your possession must be returned within thirty days of the rained out date to our administrative office prior to the issuance of a refund check.
